Winter is coming, and with it comes the extra responsibility of taking good care of our older furry friends. Senior animals are more sensitive to temperature changes and need special attention during cold and rainy days.
If you have one or more senior animals in your home, start by creating a warm, cosy corner away from draughts. Invest in an orthopaedic bed to relieve their joints and always have soft blankets available. On very cold days, don’t hesitate to put a warm dressing gown on your friend – they may resist at first, but they’ll soon get used to it and thank you!
On rainy days, try to limit the time you spend outdoors. When you get home, dry your furry friend thoroughly, paying special attention to their paws and ears.
Some animals may benefit from food supplements that help with joint health and/or neurological and motor function, talk to your vet and explore options.
Remember: keeping our senior friends warm and dry is essential for their health and well-being. With this simple care, you’ll ensure that your senior companion spends the winter in comfort and happiness!
