We never put our arms down, whether it’s day, night, rain, wind or even hazardous waste. The team from Associação Bianca Animal Shelter Portugal went once again to rescue puppies from the Zambujal toxic landfill. They are 6 weeks old. And there were 4.
The first one was bold and moved from the hole and placed himself inside the old root of a tree, having come to eat with our volunteer. After a few minutes, we managed to catch him. He screamed, yelped but he’s a sweetie. We named him Valentine ❤️ And then we didn’t see any more, no more signs….
We left 3 traps and after a few hours 2 more dogs entered, Amor and Julietta. After hours, we realized that there was another one, a fugitive, who just barked at the beginning from inside a hole, inviolable…. We left the trap, but nothing…. no sign, nor did he even eat the bait. How smart! But he was alone for two days, what anguish 😢😢😢
On the third day, again the barking from the bottom of the den, which at the slightest touch could leave the dog buried…. Another day and we left the trap again. We returned to the embankment at 10pm, dark at night, thanks to the moon and our faith. And to our relief and joy, there he was, inside the trap, in silence. And you know the most interesting thing? He didn’t bark, he didn’t make a noise, he didn’t scream, he wasn’t afraid. ❤️❤️❤️ We named this one Romeo.
Only 3 adult animals left. Two females and one male. Yes, in January we captured another adult. Little by little we are getting there. We will not give up on them!
See how grateful Romeo is, when he joins the brothers, comes to us fearlessly and licks our fingers, he who was the last and the hardest. He gives pleasure and fills our hearts with immense happiness. Once again mission accomplished!
