How to Help the Animal Abandonment Crisis

‘What can I do to help? Can I volunteer? How do I sponsor?’ These are questions we receive every day at the Bianca Association. Here are some concrete ways to make a difference.

Adopt responsibly!
Adopting an animal is a lifelong commitment. If you can’t adopt permanently, consider temporary fostering, called a Temporary Foster Family – it helps socialise the animals, prepares them for adoption, reduces the daily tasks involved with that animal and our team can do more for others.

Being a Temporary Foster Family can be an enriching experience for both parties. It’s a way of helping and ‘donating’ your time for the good of an animal! If you’re thinking of becoming a FAT contact us!

Sponsor
With just €10 a month, you can sponsor one or more animals from our association, helping to pay for food and veterinary care, among other things. You also receive a sponsorship certificate. And did you know that you can offer a sponsorship certificate to someone? Talk to us!

Spread the word
Share our posts on your networks. Often, the right animal is just waiting for the right person to see it. Like, save and share, small gestures help!

Report
Abandonment is a criminal offence punishable by law in Portugal. Report situations of abandonment to the relevant authorities. Associations often help with legal proceedings. Contact your local association for help.

Volunteering
A few hours of your time can make all the difference to our animals. Walking, socialising or helping with cleaning are vital activities.
It can be a day, part of a day or a few hours, as often as it suits you. It may not seem like much, but believe me, it’s a lot!

Educate!
Promote animal welfare education in your community, especially among young people. Young people are the future and their education in animal welfare and environmental wellbeing will make all the difference for future generations. Go to environmental events with young people so that they are sensitised to the issues and value of the environment in society.

Every little gesture adds value. We’re counting on you to transform the lives of animals!
