An Overload of Forsaken Hearts

April is abandoned animal awareness month, and the Bianca Association feels the scale of this problem every day. Over 20 years ago, we were born with the capacity to take in around 50 animals in need, a small shelter built from the physical effort of volunteers. Today, against all expectations, we look after almost 500 lives. Over the years, we’ve increased the number of animals we take in and have gone from 50 to a capacity of 150. Until today, 22 years later, we have a shelter for both dogs and cats for around 500 animals.

Behind these figures are stories of abandonment, neglect and animals who have never known the love of a family. There are 500 beating hearts waiting for an opportunity, 500 pairs of eyes looking at us with hope, 500 reasons to keep fighting.
This reality reflects a social problem that goes beyond us, but which we don’t turn our backs on. However, we urgently need support to continue providing shelter, food, veterinary care and affection for these animals.
Two decades on, we feel that the problem of abandonment is still ‘today’s’, it’s still constant and in the last two years, it has increased against all expectations and against our daily efforts to educate, raise awareness and sterilise.

During this abandoned animal month, we’re asking for your help. We’re not just asking for financial help, but also for help in spreading information and awareness about not abandoning animals.

How can you help?
Adopt responsibly, sponsor an animal, volunteer or donate (essential goods, blankets, sand, etc., or even financially).
Please be aware that donations made to the association are tax deductible under the Patronage Law. Donate!
Every little gesture can make a huge difference to the lives of these animals.
Together, we can turn abandonment into hope. 🐾
